On Wednesday evening, I had the pleasure of seeing
The Antlers in the beautiful surrounds of the
Union Chapel, my favourite venue in London. I can't think of anywhere with the same combination of incredible acoustics, full seating, reasonable ticket prices, and the option to have a cup of tea between bands. Very important.
They played all the songs from 'Hospice', their heart-wrenching concept album reflecting on the illness and loss of a loved one. The arrangements were more subdued and pared-down than the album versions but worked perfectly in this venue.
It was a soaring and moving performance and there were many moments where I felt a lump in my throat. Just gorgeous.
